Recruitment

Message from the President

group of ISC members on stairs

You are about to enter one of the most amazing chapters of your life and are fortunate to be doing it at the University of Virginia. As you may know, the University has a long tradition of student self-governance that allows all students to take an active role in the many organizations the University has to offer.

One experience that supports the traditions of the University is the fraternity and sorority system. The Inter-Sorority Council (ISC) is composed of a diverse group of women with varying interests that span across the organizations of the University. The ISC includes fifteen sorority chapters, making the ISC the largest Greek Council, as well as the largest women's organization on Grounds. Our purpose is to enhance the experience of all Greek and potential Greek women at the University by providing resources and opportunities for leadership, service, social, and scholastic development.

Sorority life has enriched the lives of countless women around Grounds. It provides an avenue for personal growth and an opportunity for enrichment in the company of other amazing women. In addition to offering opportunities for sisterhood and promoting new experiences, the Greek system offers wonderful opportunities to network and to become involved in other University and community activities. These experiences prove invaluable to your short time at the University. Each woman's experience is unique and sororities add a meaningful dimension that lasts well beyond graduation.

I encourage each of you to take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about the Inter-Sorority Council and to participate in ISC Recruitment. Joining a sorority was one of the best decisions I made at UVa. It has given me the opportunity to develop as an individual and to excel at the University in ways I never thought possible. I have loved being part of the supportive network of women that the ISC has to offer and I know that I will carry my experiences in the ISC with me forever. I hope that you will consider joining the sorority community and that you too will find a home within the ISC that you love as much as I love mine.

Best,

Kelly McLaughlin,
Inter-Sorority Council President
